SOUL SCRATCH’S NEW STUDIO ALBUM PUSHING FIRE OUT TODAY ON VINYL, CD AND DIGITAL FORMATS VIA COLEMINE RECORDS!
HERE’S WHAT FOLKS HAVE BEEN SAYING ABOUT SOUL SCRATCH’S PUSHING FIRE:
“San Fernando Valley’s Soul Scratch are a smoking hot soul band with superlative musicianship and one hell of a lead singer in Dale Spollett. Spollett possesses one of those force of nature soul voices that can’t be taught; one has to be born with it. Like Paul Janeway from St. Paul and the Broken Bones and Mike Farris, Spollett is a blue-eyed soul singer that can tear the house down in live performance. Even more impressive is how his voice bristles with energy and conviction on studio recordings. The band itself equals the vocal excellence of Spollett, with its right-on-the-money crackling grooves in every song. Soul Scratch is one of those groups that you know you love within a few seconds of hearing one of their songs.” – POPMATTERS
“San Fernando Valley-dwelling soul funk outfit Soul Scratch have a sound that’s eclectic as the melting point from where they grew up. ‘Pacified’ is the latest song to be shared from their forthcoming Pushing Fire album and it’s a doozy. Mixing a funky lick, bold horns and a grooving rhythm, the soulful outfit are their bold best on this tune.” – PURE VOLUME
“… a fantastic album” – SONIC BANDWAGON
Elwood’s (aka Dan Aykroyd) favorite new song of the week is the hot & fresh soul number “Pacified” from L.A.’s Soul Scratch! – THE BLUES MOBILE
“This record is so refreshing! Sounds classic (as opposed to “retro”), & the topical songs are right on time. ” – KUNM Albuquerque public radio
BEST OF 2016! “Soul Scratch’s ‘Pacified’ is a great single.” – THE FACE RADIO / BROOKLYN
[8.5/10 ] “… a visceral classic.” – MAXIMUM VOLUME MUSIC
“Los Angeles band Soul Scratch truly do live up to their name. The six-piece band lays down thick funky grooves and the kind of retro soul sounds being done by East Coast labels like Daptone. Vocalist Dale Spollett is a powerhouse, bringing to mind peers like St. Paul and the Broken Bones’ Paul Janeway and legends like Syl Johnson. The musicians in the band are no slouches either, and they’ll often rip into down and dirty instrumentals strictly meant to get you dancing. This is as much a party record as it is a preaching record, and as we embark on a future that’s anything but certain, we desperately need both of those things.” – GLIDE MAGAZINE
“This album is everything that is great about soul music: bright horns, funky rhythms, groovy melodies, and contemplative lyrics. Soul music is not only alive but thriving and this album is proof.” – AXS
“If Soul Scratch wanted to make an impression on this debut, they more than accomplished that here.” – SELECTIVE MEMORY MAGAZINE

From the first few notes, this record grabs you. It’s raw soul and funk music crafted to perfection. Wailing vocals, soaring horns and a super tight rhythm section. With a dirty production style, Soul Scratch serves up something that’s familiar, fresh and never more relevant.
This soulful sextet is a hard hitting groove machine, built in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley, on a mission to save the world from mediocrity. Johnny Chou, Joel Givertz, Adam Greenberg, Matt Reale, Dale Spollett and a host of musicians combine their love of The JB’s, Booker T & the MG’s, Curtis Mayfield and all 1960-’70s soul on their high-energy debut full-length Pushing Fire.
Soul Scratch is rapidly branching out of their L.A. base on a quest to bring good times, quality get-down and their own special brand of soul to every corner of the country.
