Portland-based shoegaze / bliss pop band, Souvenir Driver, further announce themselves in 2017 with single ‘Photographs’ the tasty second single from their forthcoming, self-titled album, marking the band’s fourth full-length release. Written during a four month tour hiatus. The band took their cues from a Lou Reed quote and created this new body of work with minimal chords, while putting their focus on the melodies and moods. The upcoming album was recorded by Tommy Dietrick (David J, Drinking Flowers) in an isolated cabin (a-la-Bon-Iver) on Mt. Hood in Oregon, it seems that strategy paid dividends.
The modified approach continues to bear fruit if you hear ‘Photographs’ below, guitars, drums and vocals are in good shape throughout for the 4-piece, works to sharpens anticipation to the new LP.
Gushing personally, Souvenir Driver are on good foundations, the new single convinces, amongst alternative appeal, shadows and chords, tones and colours are as bright as the production, the single suggests their is more weight to the band’s sound and better for it, 8/10
