Today, coming off an incredible SXSW that included five show-stealing performances and an inspiring run in a ‘guac-slinging’ competition, LA psych-pop duo SWIMM have unveiled a trippy, vintage warm gem of a track in “Mind’s Eye”. “Mind’s Eye” is a vinyl exclusive cut, released via a premiere with The Music Ninja <will be hyperlinked>, to celebrate the launch of the preorder for the limited edition orange vinyl of their “Beverly Hells” EP (out April 8th on 24West Records). The track is full of the sunny guitars, infectious synths and huge hooks that has found the band on the tip of so many tastemaker’s tongues. You can preorder the vinyl here <will be hyperlinked>, and in the meantime the EP is available on most of your favorite streaming and download sites including iTunes, Spotify and Soundcloud.
In case you’re not yet familiar with SWIMM’s latest Beverly Hells EP, it is an eclectic array of diverse, meticulously arranged ethereal rock with huge sweeping guitars, infectious rhythms and arena-ready hooks. While there is certainly an air of good vibes to the soundscape, lyrically the band takes a more satirical approach, offering a cultural critique of the juxtaposition of beauty and the lack of earnestness prominent in their adopted home city of Los Angeles. The result is a remarkable six song effort that indicates we’re only scratching the surface of what will prove to be a very special band.
SWIMM really burst onto the national stage in 2015 with the Beverly Hells EP. The band hit the road with Dr. Dog, Bright Light Social Hour and Young Empires on different legs of their national tour and also appeared at CRSSD Festival in San Diego alongside The Flaming Lips, TV On The Radio and Big Data. Their lead single “Belly” found its way onto several prominent Spotify and Apple Music Playlists (including Apple’s “Best Alternative Tracks of 2015” list) and was covered everywhere from Noisey to Consequence of Sound to Culture Collide. The band continued that success into 2016, kicking the year off with a January residency at The Echo in Los Angeles, as well as, with an appearance at The Okeechobee Music Festival and a huge presence at SXSW.
Make sure to pre-order this extremely limited-run vinyl today and look for the band to be back out on the road again this Spring/Summer.
