One-part post-punk, two parts fuzz, Team Picture are a group of polite individuals from Leeds who have demanded attention with a series of self-released singles in 2016. Quickly gaining fans, Team Picture have been championed by the likes of DIY, Dork and BBC Introducing West Yorkshire, playing a set at the latter’s hugely successful Introducing West Yorkshire event at Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club, where Team Picture played to a capacity crowd. DIY said of the band “Team Picture’s fuzz-rock feels like it could batter its way through brickwork” and their new single on CPWM, ‘Back to Bay Six’ doesn’t let up. Josh from the band explains “’Back to Bay Six’ is a sprawling brainsplosion of lo-fi genre-touring fuzzpop. It’s also the first song of ours to enter the material plane as a physical release.”
Joining Team Picture on the single is Leeds Electronica Trio Laminate Pet Animal who contribute the driving pop of ‘Eve’ to the singles club. The band utilise lush vocals, organic samples and big bass lines to create their blend of clever, electronic pop. The band list Gold Panda, The Japanese House and Bonobo as influences and have supported the likes of Gold Panda, Emancipator and Slow Magic in 2016.
Newest member, Charlotte Jones, says about ‘Eve’ –
“Departing from the delicate nature of our last single ‘For Her’, ‘Eve’ is a heavier hitting downtempo dance track. The track deals with the unbalance that you can sometimes feel at the end of a relationship, where you don’t see eye to eye. ‘Eve’ explores this topic through fragmented samples, deep bass and gentle vocals.”
The single launch featuring both bands will take place on February 9th at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds in association with Leeds Student Radio. Come Play With Me will also be hosting two nights at The Crescent Community Venue in York and Hebden Bridge Trades Club with Her Name Is Calla and special guests. Tickets are on sale for all the shows and are available from CPWM’s website.
Team Picture will also be performing at The Islington Mill in Manchester on the 10th of February as part of Too Many Blogs’ Fundraiser event alongside Our Girl, Caro, Everything Everything DJ sets and a secret special guest headliner.
CPWM is inviting submissions from artists in the Leeds City Region that think they’re at the right stage of their career to benefit from a release with the singles club to submit a track and tell us what they’re about – see the Submissions page on www.cpwm.co.
