Today, the TEEF family becomes one member richer with the addition of Adelaide’s own Lonelyspeck. Real name Sione Teumohenga, Lonelyspeck is a project that is well represented by its name, centered around ideas of identity, fierce emotion and the vastness of the universe. A bedroom producer in the truest sense, Lonelyspeck creates every element of their music on their own – recording, mixing, mastering, artwork, videos – all generated from home.
They released their debut Presence EP in 2014 to much internet discussion, including some very kind words from one Troye Sivan, and have been relatively quiet in the time since. Now, they’ve returned with ‘All My Skin on the Air’ from a new EP due February 2016. The track is an unexpectedly hooky piece of alternative-pop, drawing melodic inspiration from commercial radio as much as from bass music.
Some words on the track from Lonelyspeck:
“The concept is that I want to be exposed and not hide my feelings even if they’re awkward or seemingly trivial or whatever. I need to literally let them out or they will fester in me. And that while there is only a little bit of these feelings left inside me, they won’t go away on their own, they still need to be addressed. Fuck worrying about that, fuck trying to justify things. I have feelings and I’m just talking about them. That’s all”
‘All My Skin on the Air’ is recorded, mixed and mastered by Lonelyspeck and out now through TEEF Recordings.
