The Charm The Fury are dubbed as Holland’s best kept secret but with how their first full length outing A Shade of My Former Self sounds this won’t be applicable for much longer. With songs that are crafted this well it can’t be long until this female fronted hardcore/metal outfit break into the mainstream and begin to share stage with metal acts that are established worldwide.
Fusing the sounds of every post hardcore act of the past ten years into a delightful package isn’t an easy task but The Charm The Fury manage it with ease as well as grace. Close your eyes and you can hear aspects of bands such as Underoath, Alexisonfire, Boy Sets Fire, Killswitch Engage and the list goes on.
Despite being able to incorporate all of these sounds into one band The Charm The Fury still stink of originality through and through. I beg you not too be put off either by the fact The Charm The Fury are female fronted, they are in no way anything like Paramore or Tonight Alive, in fact their singer Caroline Westendorp has more balls (not literally) than any other current metal vocalist.
A Shade of My Former Self is officially released on September 16th and it’s in your best interest that you purchase it or you will be ridiculed as a loser by your friends and family. Purchase it and if you want riffs, screams, crushing drums then I assure you will get them. 7.8/10
