Listen to ‘Do It Wrong’ here,
London based and formed around eighteen months ago, The History Of Apple Pie line up is centered around the songwriting partnership of Stephanie Min (Vocals) and Jerome Watson (Guitar) together with Kelly Owens (Bass), James Thomas (Drums) and Aslam Ghauri (Guitar). Expanding on the guitar aesthetic of their heroes – Sonic Youth, Radiohead and Blur – their infectious fuzzy pop has seen them quickly build up an ever growing fanbase of critics, punters and fellow musicians alike.
They’ve already played over seventy shows both here and in Europe including numerous festival spots, a sold-out show for HMV’s Next Big Thing, ‘The Roundhouse Rising’, main support for both The Drums and Male Bonding and being hand picked by Graham Coxon to support him at his recent London show. They’ve also released two critically acclaimed and sold out singles, the aforementioned ‘Mallory’ and the debut ‘You’re So Cool’ together with a recent split 12” with the similarly inclined talents of Gross Magic, Novella and Echo Lake.
The band have spent the last few months writing and recording their debut album which is expected to see the light of day later this year and are set to announce more headline shows very soon. Expect more strains of medicated teenage heartache and the psychedelic rain of Jerome’s unique home made pedal board and slacker-genius guitar chops. The History Of Apple Pie are set to continue to push the sound of alternative guitar pop in new and exciting directions.
To coincide with the single release, they will play a live show in London at Birthdays in Dalston on Wednesday the 15th of August 2012.
