The Loud announce debut album ‘Harris Shutter’ plus 7”single ‘Amy’s Gonna Get You’ which we had the pleasure of reviewing in our Singles Roundup.
mixed with The Yardbirds, The Monks, The Spencer Davis Group, 13th Floor Elevators & The Beatles, through to BJTM, Smith Westerns& The Horrors. Following appearances with Black Lips, Echo & The Bunnymen and Iggy Pop this summer, the group will release their debut LP, “Harris Shutter”, on Liverpool independent Payper Tiger Records.
Lifted from a musical backdrop of the cutthroat 1980s, portrayed through the records of Echo & The Bunnymen,The Jesus & Mary Chain and Wipers, to the modern barbiturate, Brooklyn howl of Crystal Stilts and their Texan counterparts The Black Angels, THE LOUD sit straddled by esteemed contemporaries in both history and geography. And in this void, the band have set about carving their unique blend of brutally aware, post-modern psychedelia. A bastardised, undeniably Liverpudlian take on the vibrant scuzz of Dischord’s Make Up or any of the above, The Loud are a melodic, raucous addition to the world of vital rock n roll. Pennington Lee(vocals/guitar) and Matthew Freeman (Bass) are lifelong friends and they met Leroy Oxton (drums) at a Brian Jonestown Massacre show in 2006.
This June 20th, ‘Amy’s Gonna Get You’ gets a 7’ vinyl release, while LP ‘Harris Shutter’ comes out on August 22nd, both through Payper Tiger Records.Talking of the release, vocalist Lee Pennington said:
“Harris shutter has been a labour of love. We had a great time making it and a better time doing all the things that it’s about. Its worth all the shit gigs when you finally have the record in your hands. The way it’s all come together, the way it looks feels and sounds, I couldn’t have asked for any better, and couldn’t have asked for abetter group of people than those who have been working on it. It’s pretty special man.”
