Debuts new single, “Kirsti”
Debut EP out June 9th
New Jersey-based rockers Trü
To release debut, self-titled EP out June 9th
(Brooklyn, NY) Most have us have been there before; the bleary-eyed, endlessly enthusiastic “we should totally do that!” conversations that occur after a long night out and a few too many drinks. Such was the case in October of 2015 when Pat Defrancisci (guitar/vox) and Keith Williams (guitar/vox) got to chatting at a friend’s wedding despite both already being in other bands.
The NJ-based duo would get together to co-write a few songs, and just like that, Trü was born. Rounding out the lineup with Cindy Ward (bass/vox) and Steve Cerri (drums) and two demos later, the newly minted band is now gearing up to drop its proper, self-titled debut EP out June 9th.
Upon first listening to the four-track Trü, it becomes immediately apparent why the already-occupied quartet of assembled talent have gone all in here. Golden hued melodies and crunchy guitars call to mind the best the 90s had to offer with the poppier inclinations of Weezer meeting the emotional swells of Built To Spill. Or as the band puts it themselves more simply, “sad music for sad people.”
