Good days for Against <Me! with a shiny brand new album and the announcement they’ve just being confirmed along with The Slackers to play the 16th Annual Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival, no doubt an easy decision made even easier when considering their sixth album otherwise know as ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues’. The 10 song album exhibits the talents of Against Me! well, the band on this 2014 LP features Grace’s ‘signature’, explicit songwriting and dominant vocals, the album also features longtime guitarist/vocalist James Bowman, drummer Atom Willard and Fat Mike of NOFX on bass for ‘FUCKMYLIFE666’ and ‘Unconditional Love’
If the band line up passes you by, the new album, abreast your attention with a comfy 2014 expressive dose of punk, from the opening ‘Talking Transgender Dysphoria Blues’ bristles with attitude, you’re sold into a world characterised by the Floridian band, not that is a problem, especially with tracks like the opener, the single, ‘FUCKMYLIFE666’, ‘Paralytic States’ and ‘Dead Friend’ showcase a few of the different noisey influences that make up the potent sound the four-piece. also noteworthy is the overall care given to the latest album, one minor gripe, the full length is too short, with so called EP’s starting to get heavier with shed loads of tracks.
Listen to ‘Paralytic States’
Overall, ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues’ represents a band over a decade on, still in good form and shape, not an easy thing six albums on to do, Against Me! show no signs of slowing down, if anything it’s the reverse. 8.3/10
