Two Tongues – “Azalea” (Official Video)
The “Azalea” video premiered yesterday on Noisey.com, accompanied by an in-depth interview w/ Max + Chris. The song is everything you would expect from Conley and Bemis. Ominous synths, pulsing drums and punching guitars set the soundscape for two of the most notable voices to emerge from the days when emo was at it’s peak popularity.
The video is centered around two young children meant to represent Max and Chris (or their inner children). It follows the two carefree young men as they let their imagination run wild in an anarchistic day of reckless abandonment and adventure; much the way Max and Chris do with the Two Tongues project as a whole.
It was created by grammy-nominated director Israel Anthem (Mutemath, Shiny Toy Guns) and was filmed/edited in a way that captures a really interesting dynamic between the perception of the world and one another from a child’s point-of-view (the energetic, personal feel of the VHS-style footage) vs. from an outside / adult view (the crisp, straightforward wide shots).
