London-based wunderkind Will Joseph Cook releases his long-awaited debut album Sweet Dreamer today via Atlantic Records UK. With production by Jack Steadman of Bombay Bicycle Club, Hugh Worskett, and WJC himself, the LP is highlighted by a mixture of Cook’s intelligent/heart-wrenching lyrics and features the pop sensibilities of Talking Heads and MGMT.
Included in the 13-track collection are tracks like “Beach (I Wanna Make You Mine),” which has collectively garnered over 3 million streams, as well as recently released “Biggest Fan” and “Plastic”. The vibrant, technicolor album flaunts Cook’s own creative style of infectious indie-pop with an electronic twist.
Sweet Dreamer follows Will’s 2015 debut EP You Jump I Run (via Duly Noted Records), which quickly gained traction as the lead single “Message” hit #1 on Hype Machine and #2 on the Global Spotify Viral Chart. With a sound that’s inspired by the eccentric and unconventional musical stylings of LCD Soundsystem and Vampire Weekend, Sweet Dreamer sees Will Joseph Cook emerge with his most impressive project to date.
