+ Dec tour with Matt Berry & The Maypoles
“Bringing to mind the plaintive folk pop of First Aid Kit or Girlpool” – God Is In The TV Zine
“They have the potential to be one of the most interesting artists to emerge in 2016” – It’s All Indie
“Their gilded harmonies are reminiscent of First Aid Kit while the message of grabbing live and savouring every moment has rarely been so relevant” – Clash Magazine
Xylaroo will be joining musician and prolific artist/ Bafta Award winning actor Matt Berry & The Maypoles on his full UK tour this December, including a special finale show at London’s The Forum on December 10th. Renowned for his energetic and bewitching live show, Berry has released four critically acclaimed albums with a 5th due next year, as well as writing and starring in acclaimed comedy Toast of London- with a third series due to go out on November 18th this year.
Sneak preview of whats to come from the band… Xylaroo have released demo versions of Sunshine plus a cover of the Artic Monkey’s track “I Bet That You look good on the dancefloor”. Early versions of tracks that will appear on Sweetooth, due for release on Sunday Best Recordings next year.
Xylaroo is the joint musing of sisters Coco & Holly Chant, and the music reflects a cross-section of cultural influences – growing out of their time living in Asia and Europe, original Papua New Guinean roots, and brand new haunts in East London. Sunshine is a swell of sweet harmonies & down-to-earth lyricism – the perfect intro to the sister’s distinct sound.
Xylaroo will also be playing a free show at London’s The Social tonight (Monday 16th November), teasing more tracks from their debut album. Joining them on the bill is Alice Jemima – another fresh Sunday Best signing. Doors 6pm – The Social, 5 Little Portland St, W1W 7JD
