30th October 2020] Rising British singer-songwriter Ava Lily is in search for ‘Higher Love’ with the breathtaking single – independently released and available to buy and stream from today. Lily reveals that her highly anticipated debut EP also titled Higher Love will be out imminently.‘Higher Love’ is a more up-tempo, atmospheric R&B track compared to Ava Lily’s recent releases ‘Closure’ and ‘Blameless’.

Co-written with New York poet Allen Vartanian and long-time friend and collaborator Gareth Esson – Lily’s raw, emotive vocal emphasises the powerful lyrics of finally moving on from a toxic relationship and deserving more.Lily says: “’Higher Love’ is about connecting with my higher power. It was an awakening moment where I felt like I’d outgrown the situation I was in and I wanted more. It was the beginning of a journey of self-love.” On writing with Vartanian, she adds: “Me and Allen have never met in real life, but somehow we just clicked and have this special connection. There was so much magic in the mystery! He’s amazing!

”Allen Vartanian elaborates: “’Higher Love’ was inspired when sampling Steve Winwood’s 1986 classic by the same title. Although the 1986 ‘Higher Love’ was not eventually sampled and this song is very musically different, the yearning for a higher love comes from the same place.’’Ava Lily’s latest material is an introduction to a more authentic sound from the emerging artist. She has gained accolades from the likes of EARMILK,

Refinery 29, Euphoria Magazine, CMU Daily, Guap Magazine and Spindle Magazine. Lily will be a part of Unlock Virtual Festival which started this month; the charitable online event is teaming up with various musicians, influencers and comedians to raise donations for The Prince’s Trust.

Hailing from Bristol, one of Ava’s earliest memories of music was watching her mother listening to Tracy Chapman and being overwhelmed with emotion. At a young age, Ava’s father bought her a Christina Aguilera cassette tape which Lily used to play on repeat so she could perfect Christina’s melodic runs. When Ava was older, her father then played her ‘Frank’ by Amy Winehouse which sparked her desire to start penning songs and play the piano in the comfort of her bedroom. After uploading a cover of ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ on YouTube – Ava Lily’s life significantly changed when she signed to Naughty Boy’s label. She then moved to London and started to attend writing sessions with the likes of Emile Sande and James Arthur; the deft songwriter also co-wrote ZAYN’s track ‘Common’ from his latest album Icarus Falls. Following on from the release of her debut single ‘Painkiller’ – which received praise from CLASH, Wonderland and Nation Of Billions – Ava parted ways with the label, and is now setting on a new direction as an independent artist.

Ava Lily has taken her time to hone her craft and create a distinctive soundscape that harmoniously combines her soothing vocal, with captivating, relatable lyrics and mesmerising, simplistic productions. Her upcoming Higher Love EP sets the tone for what’s to come from the young artist, who is gearing up to release more music in 2021
