Barbarossa (Memphis Industries-signed, co-produced by Ghost Culture, This is the Kit) | Announces New Album
Tom here again, hope you’re having a lovely start to the week.
I’m working with the Memphis Industries-signed producer, Barbarossa who’s today announcing his new album, Love Here Listen (out March 5) with this single, “Iris2Iris”.
We’ve had tips in recent times from FLOOD, Under The Radar, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, American Songwriter, and more for a string of recent singles.
Wondered if you might be interested in sharing this one at With Guitars?Preview “Iris2Iris” here: https://youtu.be/H7lNJCnQROQ
This is the first full-length release from Barbarossa – real name James Mathé – since his BBC 6 Music-tipped 2018 record, Lier, an album that also found him touring in support of This Is The Kit and Poliça. Love Here Listen is a real change in sound, however, with James shedding the folk aesthetics further (he was previously signed to Fence Collective, home to Pictish Trail, Seamus Fogerty, etc for his early albums) for something much more electronically immersive, teaming up this time with the in-demand Dummy and Red Bull-back producer, Ghost Culture who’s recent work includes Kelly Lee Owens and Daniel Avery.
The pair worked with a limited range of vintage synths on the new record – a Mono Poly, Korg MS-20 a Roland SH-101 and a Juno 108 borrowed from the local skate store Palm Bay Skates – with the recordings bounced down to Mathé’s Fostex R8 reel to reel to give it an undeniable warmth.Any consideration for support with this announcement would be brilliant. Do let me know if you’d like an album stream/download.Thanks a lot,Tom
