Waltzer, the Chicago garage-rock project helmed by multi-hyphenate songwriter Sophie Sputnik, are excited to release their anticipated debut album Time Traveler, out now digitally via Side Hustle Records.

To celebrate the release, Waltzer has shared a new visualizer for the title track — watch HERE, and stream the album HERE.Waltzer recently released a new single titled “Lantern,” which earned accolades from the likes of Consequence of Sound, BrooklynVegan, The Deli and more. The album’s release follows a very active 2020 for Waltzer — no small feat for a year that saw many acts grounded before takeoff. Waltzer released singles like “I Don’t Wanna Die,” “Destroyer” (which was covered to great effect by Puddles Pity Party), and “Eugene,” which was accompanied by a video by Wayne White (Pee Wee’s Playhouse, Smashing Pumpkins’ “Tonight, Tonight” video), but they didn’t stop there.

Last year also saw the birth of Waltzer TV, a monthly variety show that streamed online in partnership with music venues around the US and featured talent local to each venue. The initiative subverted pandemic-imposed restrictions by creating a collaborative space for artists to showcase whatever they were working on at that moment — everyone from actors to poets to rappers and country crooners have taken part, and musical luminaries including Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers) and Erika Wennerstrom (Heartless Bastards) have already contributed.

The latest episode of Waltzer TV aired last night via BabyTV, the streaming series started by beloved Brooklyn venue Baby’s All Right. The episode featured performances from Brooklyn’s best and brightest, including Mirah, Elijah Wolf, Max Pain & The Groovies, Brass Queens and more.Stay tuned for the launch of a massive Kickstarter campaign to grow the Waltzer TV series on February 2, which will bring with it exclusive perks and (most importantly) more Waltzer TV.
