Hey y’all, Spring has Sprung in Athens, GA. A welcome mood swing erasing the stagnant marine layer of February. With this welcome change underway, we couldn’t be more excited to announce Jeremy Charbonneau’s project Summer Sleeves, sparked after 15-years of playing in and around the Seattle scene and focusing on his family. Summer Sleeves partnered up with Jigsaw Records on the release In the Throes of Woes, perfectly penned pop melodies and casual sensibilities of bedroom recording make for rich and raw creative expression a la the simple honesty of Daniel Johnston, out April 23rd.

Stream the “Walk in the Night” single debut over at Austin Town Hall, and check out the accompanying video, made by Jeremy himself, here.

“Walk in the Night” sets a high bar for the rest of the record, spurned by imagery from the Wizard of Oz and the sensation of forging ahead alone,  only to be rescued by friends moments before meeting an unseen fate. As always, Jeremy’s voice imbues the entire track with a wholesome honesty, as if he’s never sung anything more true.In the Throes of Woes is eleven songs performed by Jeremy and friends Alon Bassok and Mike Oprinski. Bassok and Oprinski took on bass and lead guitar, respectively, for the majority of the home-recorded songs, while Jeremy took on the rest. The result is a lo-fi foray into  indie pop, folk, and at times, noisey psychedelia. The album was recorded over the fall/winter of 2019–2020 at Jeremy’s West Seattle home with a few mics, a laptop and a DIY sound-treated room—all the makings of true lo-fi record. The album was mixed by Jeremy and Ethan Jones (Math and Physics Club/Model Shop).
