Janita releases new single Digging In The Dirt
ABOUT JANITA’S NEW SINGLE, “DIGGING IN THE DIRT”
“So good it’s intoxicating.”—AXS“An artist capable of producing music of great beauty and unsettling power.”—Baeble Music“She sings with such passion and conviction that it’s hard to take your eyes off her.”—The Telegraph (UK)
Janita’s new single, her electrifying take on the Peter Gabriel classic “Digging In The Dirt”
(ECR Music Group), arrives February 26th on the heels of multiple, triumphant single releases. The stunning music video for this new track—directed by acclaimed fashion photographer and artist Anthony Friend—will be released March 10th.About the new single Janita says, “This song hit me like a ton of bricks when Peter Gabriel first came out with it, but never has the message of the song been more timely than it is right now. To make sense of the world, you have to first make sense of yourself. And in this time of division, to deeply understand what you stand for—and what you can’t tolerate—is everything.”
Her previous single, “Not What You’re Used To,” was featured on Spotify’s coveted New Music Friday playlist, and the music video for that track has already garnered over 250,000 video plays across platforms, winning the artist a new-found global audience. Recent singles “Bliss I Once Had This,” “I Do,” and “Our Love Is All We Have,” have garnered her national TV, press, and media in the United States and in her native Finland following their releases.
Downtown Magazine declares her work to be “anthem(s) of clarity and hope…Janita’s striking gender-bending look and mesmerizing ice-blue eyes bring to mind Annie Lennox and Bowie’s Thin White Duke-era guise; her voice is pure lilting compassion.” Billboard Magazine writes, “This woman’s got the goods.”This is the fifth single from Janita’s forthcoming new album, Here Be Dragons, to be released May 14th, 2021. “Here be dragons” means dangerous or unexplored territories, in imitation of a medieval practice of putting illustrations of dragons, sea monsters, and other mythological creatures on uncharted areas of maps where potential dangers were thought to exist. The album was produced and recorded by indie-music luminary Blake Morgan in New York City.
