\After Whitening, My Friend Peter and video artist Kevin Pham once again form an Acid-Neo-Psych Graffiti in a garish, audiovisual interplay – and on the one-year anniversary of the debut SPEAK (March 2020, Numavi Records). À la bonne heure!
Scratchy riffs are replaced by billowing soundscapes under a rapturous vocoder voice, dragging lo-fi archive materials and AI morph effects on a psychedelic journey, in unison in the universe.In turn, Benedikt Brands, multi-instrumentalist and mastermind of My Friend Peter, digs out sketches and demo recordings from the production archive for SPEAK, thus providing insight into the creative process of the work. Then he invites us to his synthesizer corner to dance to a whitening “powerup version”. There will be cake, too.
To top it all off, a friend Peter a.k.a. Captain Piromono and his Schizophonic Orchestra reminisces and remixes a 7-minute mashup of the debut SPEAK. And at the end the joyful message: in summer 2021 My Friend Peter will release the successor, an instrumental neo-psych trip EP.My Friend Peter: “Throughout the week from 27.3. – 3.4. we’ll present you one gift per day on this website”
My Friend Peter stirs up dust and mischievously blows it into the faces of an inclined audience. Mastermind of this dazzle is the multi-instrumentalist Benedikt Brands from Graz. The factotum already released on La Pochette Surprise Records and is now supported live by Patrick Windischbauer (bass), Paul Probst (guitar) and Maximilian Zeller (drums). My Friend Peter has already shared the stage with Holy Wave, Fenster and Molly. Their debut album SPEAK was released in March 2020 via Numavi Records.
