May 14th, 2021 (Los Angeles, CA): Demie Cao returns with new single, “Circles,” featuring labelmate Justin Park and produced by Holly. The track embodies a relationship that is long past broken, but both sides are still trying to hang on. Also released today was the “Circles” music video, which was actually directed by Demie herself.
This song is about trying to hold together a relationship that has already fallen apart. Demie sought to capture that moment in a relationship when partners are sleeping 3 inches away but mentally and emotionally are miles away from one another and are not ready to openly admit it yet. “Circles” is not the first and will not be the last time that Justin and Demie have worked together on their music. Justin was featured in Demie’s music video for her single, “YUNG” which was released last year as Demie led up to her first-ever EP, Thicker Lines. And Demie was featured in Justin’s recent music video for his single “Adore You, Dior You” with Ted Park.
This track also marks Demie’s second collaboration with Holly. She was the producer of her international single, “SAGE” which was also included on her EP. International DJ and producer Miguel Oliveira a.k.a. Holly, was recognized as “one of the top producers of 2017” from music platforms such as DJ Mag and Run the Trap, and known for his work with artists such as The Chainsmokers, Steve Aoki, David Guetta, and more.
“Demie really came through with the clutch on this project, and that’s really all I can say! I remember I was in the studio one day, and Demie had just come to record her new song. Me being my curious self, I stayed around a little while to get a sneak peek of this record, and I’m just mad that no one had warned me of how FIRE this was going to be. I haven’t felt so natural writing a song in so long. I absolutely felt like myself working on this record. Also shouts to Zane Taylor, who was there with me, weighing in on my verse. He really helped me put things where they belonged. All in all, we had hella fun creating, and I hope that people enjoy listening just as much.” – Justin Park
