Today, Detroit’s Jax Anderson (FKA Flint Eastwood) continues her streak of dual releases from her upcoming album, Songs For Every Condition, which will come out this fall on Neon Gold Records (Haim, Marina, Matt Maeson, The Knocks etc). From the HAPPY condition, the first song “Bigger Picture” features VÉRITÉ and includes the Jax-directed music video here, the song is paired with Side B, “Say I Do”.
Over the last few months, she’s released HOPEFUL (with MisterWives & Curtis Roach) and CLOUDY (with PVRIS and Lauren Sanderson).Jax wrote “Say I Do” to be the quintessential dance song at queer weddings when she realized there weren’t really many out there.
Jax Anderson says: “Bigger Picture & Say I Do were written about moments of happiness. To me happiness is a wave you gotta ride when it’s here & a memory to pull from when that wave dips. Bigger Picture is about the happy moment of meeting someone new & your world opening up like it never has before. I loved having Verite on Bigger Picture. Her voice blends perfectly & I knew she’d kill it. It was written on tour in Australia & i felt like it needed to be more of a back & forth rather than a singular singer. Say I Do was written to be a song to play at queer weddings.”
VÉRITÉ says: “I’m always really grateful when an artist trusts me enough to bring me into their world, especially an artist like Jax who has such a vision. I love the concept she’s created for this next record and how she’s bringing in these different perspectives to explore these different angles of feeling. I’m so happy that I got to contribute to Bigger Picture, because it feels like this exuberant celebration of love and how when you find the right person, all the hard shit you’ve had to go through feels like it’s part of a larger purpose, to bring you to that moment.”About the upcoming concept album, Jax explains: “Life happens in ways that are unpredictable & beautiful & everything/nothing all at once. There are so many moments to notice & feelings to cherish. A moment that happens when you’re happy, may feel different when your condition changes to sad or excited or healing or heartbroken or joyful. Life changes constantly – to me the soundtrack of life feels more like a playlist than an album.
Songs For Every Condition was inspired by the different conditions of life. I didn’t force myself into a certain soundscape or to stick to a certain genre, but instead allowed the music to be inspired by the different conditions I was in at the time. What came out was a wonderful variety of honest songs.”Jax Anderson, who changed from her Flint Eastwood moniker to her real name, has built a reputation for writing alt-pop anthems that boldly speak to overcoming the forces in the world that try and keep us from loving ourselves and actualizing our full potential. She recently released the track “I Don’t Care Anymore” with K.Flay HERE, with the accompanying music video HERE.
