Sneaker Pimps’ First Drop Ahead Of New Album
Today marks the much anticipated return of Sneaker Pimps. After an 18 year hiatus, today they released two singles, Squaring The Circle
This morning iconic trip-hop pioneers, Sneaker Pimps, released the first full length singles FIGHTER and SQUARING THE CIRCLE from their long awaited upcoming album, SQUARING THE CIRCLE. The sonically diverse and powerful double single release introduces featured co-vocalist, Simonne Jones, who takes the lead on FIGHTER and duets alongside founding member Chris Corner (IAMX) on Squaring The Circle. The group recently teased this double single but only today made this exciting official statement
After 18 years of dormancy and deliberation we (Sneaker Pimps) are releasing not one, but two new tracks. ‘Fighter’ is a plea for courage and strength against prevailing mental health crises. ‘Squaring the Circle’ (via Nietzsche) is a heartfelt ode to eternal returns of love, in the face of desperate adversity. Contrasting in nature, hopefully these songs describe the diversity and essence of the new album. -Liam Howe, Sneaker Pimps
As Howe noted, the sumptuous, strange ballad Squaring the Circle is in sharp contrast with the grinding, beat-driven Fighter. These tracks offer us an exciting taste of what’s to come whilst effortlessly showcasing the bands creative evolution. However It is clear that the haul marks of Sneaker Pimps remain, we find articulate electronica coupled harmoniously with stirring lyrics and seductive melodies; something that their fans have always loved. You can have the pleasure of listening to both the singles at the links below.

The group have also announced the release of an official video for Fighter, to be released soon. The video was directed, shot, end edited by Chris Corner
“It’s taken many years and many false starts to get Sneaker Pimps back in the game. Sometimes [you] need to back the fuck off and let the universe take control. I’m proud and relieved to say that it is finally happening. We officially have new music” – Chris Corner, Sneaker Pimps (via Twitter)
“Squaring The Circle” has been teased since founding members Chris Corner and Liam Howe confirmed their much speculated reunion in 2016. In April of this year the duo revealed the albums’ artwork and officially announced that it was slated for a Fall 2021 release, now confirmed for September 10.
Bio
Formed in Hartlepool, UK, Sneaker Pimps immediately emerged as a musical force and pioneer of the trip-hop genre with their debut album, Becoming X (1996). Known for clever sampling, bittersweet melodies and a moody sound which intricately combined organic & electronic production and morphed between female and male vocal performances, they landed in the UK Top 40 five times during their initial seven year run with tracks such as Six Underground, Spin SpIn Sugar, Low Five, and Bloodsport.
After a mutual decision to explore other avenues, both founding members Chris Corner (IAMX) and Liam Howe (AMP) went on to create their own highly successful musical and visual projects collaborating with artists as diverse as Gary Numan and Lana del Rey.
Now based in LA and London respectively Sneaker Pimps have reunited and, alongside newly-added vocalist Simonne Jones, are set to release the long-anticipated album, “Squaring The Circle”. The DLP will be out on September 10, 2021.
