Leo Bhanji returns with ‘Sea Demon’, his first single since his spring EP Birth Videos, released today via Dirty Hit. Yet another in a long line of expertly crafted self-produced singles, which uniquely combine threads of hip-hop, alternative, pop and r&b.

The single is released following support from the likes of Pitchfork, Clash, COLORS, FADER, i-D and more for Leo’s last project.The single is released today alongside its video, directed by Harvey Pearson (Sam Smith, SG Lewis, The Japanese House), which depicts two concurrent shots of Leo in a phone box, the landscape bare around him other than a towering wind turbine.

‘Sea Demon’ is the first offering from Leo’s new EP, Arm’s Length, which will be released September 30th. Leo continues to self-produce all his music from his bedroom in Finsbury Park, his growth noticeable over the course of his output, all leading up to this EP, which will firmly cement him as one of the UK’s best new talents.

Of the single and EP, Leo says, “Sea Demon & the Arm’s Length EP are really about using good sounds and samples & writing songs from my life experience that I feel people will resonate with. I wrote the songs a few lines at a time while i was outside doing things”.

Leo Bhanji was born in LA and resides in London. Previous singles ‘Heart of Gold’, ‘Nope!’ and ‘Blood & Guts’ released in 2019 drew the attention of Dirty Hit, as well as the likes of BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Introducing, Complex, Highsnobiety, Pigeons and Planes, Dummy, Clash, and more. His debut EP No Guard, a defiant statement of intent from the rising star released in the height of lockdown, saw him playlisted by BBC Radio 1, and Birth Videos took him to new heights with attention from Pitchfork, The FADER and more. One of the UK’s most exciting artists, 2021 is a year of evolution for Leo, as his star continues to snowball with every new release.
