Dijon has today shared second single ‘Rodeo Clown’, taken from his highly-anticipated debut album ‘Absolutely’ (out November 5th). The track is a tearful outpouring on the fragility and pain of unrequited love set to the backdrop of a sweaty summer night at a small town Rodeo.  This follows last year’s ‘How Do You Feel About Getting Married?’ EP, plus collaborations with the likes of Charli XCX, tours with Omar Apollo, and more.

Last week, Dijon announced ‘Absolutely’ by sharing the release date and a live performance of the opening track. The visceral performance of ‘Big Mike’s’ showcased the passion and atmosphere of the ‘Absolutely’ recording process. Dijon released the album’s first single ‘Many Times‘ in September, which arrived with a frantic music video with a warped view behind the improvisational creation of the album. ‘Absolutely’ was recorded over the course of a few fervent weeks whilst in tight confines with a close-knit group of collaborators and friends. The album channels the unfettered emotion of Dijon’s live show, which has become a “you had to be there” topic of conversation in the music community with his performance entrancing any witnesses over the last several years.

‘Absolutely’ follows Dijon’s critically-acclaimed EP, ‘How Do You Feel About Getting Married?, which included “Jesse,” Vice’s #15 pick on their 100 Best Songs of 2020 list. ‘How Do You Feel About Getting Married?’ is built from the Americana-tinged, R&B palate Dijon introduced on his 2019 debut EP ‘Sci Fi 1‘, and NPR declared the project “a new peak in cerebral, soul-slicing honesty.” Dijon rounded out the year with his highly praised and star-studded collaboration ‘The Stranger,’ featuring John C. Reilly, Tobias Jesso Jr., Sachi, Dan Reeder, and Becky and the Birds, which Rolling Stone said, feels as if it contains a sprawling, occasionally strange, but ultimately cohesive little universe inside of it.”

Dijon was also recently announced as a member of the #YouTubeBlack Voices Music Class of 2022, a fund which YouTube created to amplify Black voices on their platform. Dijon receives this years honor alongside the likes of Teezo Touchdown, midwxst, EST Gee, and more.

Stay tuned for more from Dijon coming soon.
