Mosa Wild share ‘Expect Me’ + announce EP Spring 2022
MOSA WILD SHARE NEW SINGLE, EXPECT ME
ZIP YOUR COAT UP FOR ENGLISH WEATHER EP OUT SPRING 2022
Mosa Wild are excited to share a new single, ‘Expect Me’. The track is lifted from a new EP, due for release in Spring 2022 via Glassnote Records.
The Kent based quartet, fronted by Jim Rubaduka, write anthems like you and I might procrastinate over the next coffee. It’s instinctive and second nature. Heart emphatically on sleeves. Nobody needs suggest they ever look up, because each of their songs to date, from the widescreen, spiralling Smoke to the intimate, atmospheric Cry Baby have headed suitably skyward.
Theirs is a sound that few contemporary artists (from the 2010s onward) dabble in. There are bits of Arcade Fire here, suggestions of The National there, gentle nods to Doves, but in essence, Mosa Wild aren’t akin to any of those artists, albeit there’s that electrifying, unifying, can’t-quite-put-into-words spirit they all possess. Rubaduka has a real ear for melody, and a way with words that borders on the spiritual.
Produced and mixed by Ben Baptie (Rex Orange County, Moses Sumney, Little Simz) at The Pool Studio in London, Expect Me is reliably big in both sound and in this band’s enduring promise.
Jim Rubaduka: “Expect Me was initially written and recorded at my mum and dad’s kitchen table in Ashford. We tracked the final version with our friend Ben Baptie at Pool Studios. I think it’s the most collaborative studio session we’ve had.
“It was a joy to have a bunch of our friends come down and bless this record. The song has a very simple and direct message. I wanted the verses to feel like a hymn you know well, and the outro to feel like a hug that you don’t want to end.
“The song was written with love in mind.”
Expect Me is the first music to be taken from next year’s Zip Your Coat Up For English Weather EP, of which more news and music will be revealed over the coming weeks.
Following support slots with Tame Impala, Maggie Rogers, Jade Bird, and a recent sold-out headline show at London’s Sebright Arms, Mosa Wild have long since paid their dues. 2022, then.. It could, and should, be all theirs.
Further live shows to be announced soon.
