As the Lawrence brothers gear up to power through 2022 with a run of global live shows and festival headlines (see Coachella, Primavera, All Points East), they couldn’t possibly do so without bringing fans up to speed with the fruits of their lockdown labour. However much they are gassed to finally be bringing 2020’s album ENERGY and 2021’s Never Enough EP into the live arena, the prolific pair show no signs of slowing down on the new music front.

First out of the blocks is this – the snapily titled ‘You’ve Got to Let Go If You Want To Be Free’ in collaboration with multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning artist/DJ/producer Zedd. Also the title of their April US tour, ‘You’ve Got to Let Go If You Want To Be Free’ is a synth laden, slowburn complete with an infectious wiggly bassline and sees the return of Howard’s soothing distinctive croon. “Lyrically this song is my coping mechanism for dealing with anxiety.” he says, “Sometimes you need to remember where you are instead of holding onto where you want to be. Whether you’re socially anxious, too drunk, or even loving life- I hope that you dance to this song and remember that you’re free!”

Guy adds: “While I was tinkering with the drums, Howard was coming up with the lyrics and melodies. We all kind of chimed in as to how it should flow, how the structure of this song should rise and fall based off of Anton‘s baseline and built the harmonies on top of that. It pretty much came together in a day as all of our favourite ones seem to do so”.

On the hook up with Zedd, the boys explain,“We have known Anton for several years but never had the opportunity to get in the same room and make some noise together. When the time came, he arrived with one of his analog synthesisers and started jamming on it. He pretty much came up with the whole baseline to the tune in one take playing it by hand which was blowing my mind – it inspired the vibe of the whole song.”

On working with Disclosure, Zedd offers, “The entire process of working on this song was incredibly collaborative, creative, inspiring and most importantly FUN. It felt like we were in a band, jamming out and playing off each other’s ideas leading us to a place we wouldn’t have reached on our own.”

Throughout his career, Zedd has worked with a huge range of artists to create his impressive run of global hits since his debut in 2012 – notable acts include Foxes, Hayley Williams, Selena Gomez, Alessia Cara and with Maren Morris and Grey on the monster hit ‘The Middle’. With multiple GRAMMY nominations and billions of streams under his belt, Zedd is no stranger to global chart successes.

Before their recently announced US tour gets underway, Disclosure will play their first shows in London for 7 years this March. The shows will see Guy and Howard return to three varying sized stages in the city where they’ve played across differing stages of their decade long career: Heaven on March 2nd (first played March 2013), Brixton Academy on March 4th (first played Dec 2013) and Alexandra Palace on March 5th (first played March 2014) – shows that replicate the stepping stones of Disclosure’s meteoric live trajectory, astoundingly all achieved in only one year. All London shows sold out in 24 hours of going on sale.

Tickets for the US leg are on general-sale today – January 28th @ 10am local time.  Sign-up for pre-sale access at disclosureofficial.com. Dates below.
