Today, Lady Blackbird has shared the physical editions of her 2021 debut album Black Acid Soul via Foundation Music / BMG. The album was met by universal acclaim from critics upon release last year, with the Guardian praising the work as “an extraordinary collection of songs and performances that burn deep into you” in a 5* review. Black Acid Soul is available to purchase on CD and vinyl now.
With a voice that has stopped critics in their tracks, Lady Blackbird is a revelatory new talent with music that transcends the jazz scene through which the LA-based artist is rooted. Reflecting influences as varied as Billie Holiday, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner and Chaka Khan, with critics drawing comparisons to Adele, Amy Winehouse, Grace Jones and Celeste, Lady Blackbird’s distinct and beguiling talent is not one to be missed.
2021 was a landmark year for the artist, which saw her release her debut album Black Acid Soul. The album produced by Chris Seefried (who co-produced Andra Day’s Grammy nominated album Cheers To The Fall), garnered much critical claim with The Sunday Times in London naming her their Breaking Act and stating that she “brings a singing voice of extraordinary nuance and immaculate phrasing to a selection of covers/reworkings and pindrop originals” in a 4* review. She performed an unmissable rendition of ‘It’s Not That Easy’ on Later… with Jools Holland.
