“Flaunting alluring groove and sensually languid female vocals, it brings to mind
Dee-Lite or Soul II Soul… Disco with an attitude”
“Disco’s revenge plot may be nearly complete”
– The New Yorker

New York, NY (February 14, 2017) — 79.5 drips silky, raw-honeyed R&B emotion and radiates luxurious triple-female vocal harmonies and today the romantic soul septet release “Boy Don’t Be Afraid” for Valentine’s Day via Big Crown Records.
Hard to categorize and easy to love, 79.5 has been making tons of noise around NYC for the past year and a half. With three lead vocalists – Kate Mattison, Nya Parker Brown, and Piya Malik – and a band that pulls influence from every corner of a record store, it’s no wonder they’re already taking the scene by storm.
Boy Don’t Be Afraid” is a sweet little song about being… Being hopeful, being romantic, being brave. Produced by Leon Michels at the legendary Diamond Mine in Queens, NY, it’s a romantic stance and declaration of love through melody, in honest girl-group fashion. The release party for the single is TONIGHT at Union Pool in Brooklyn along side label mates The Shacks.
