“Mutant Virgins From Pluto”
Alessandro Paiola aka Larry Manteca, is back with an antigravity EP: “Mutant Virgins From Pluto.”
After the horror “Zombie Mandingo” (2013) and the noir “Deep Cut” (2014), comes the concept of the 70s science fiction, when directors allowing focus on robotic, alien invasion, epidemics and the post-atomic. These are the themes that have inspired Larry in writing his third album.
The intro “Floating City”, transported to an imaginary alien city, suspended in space.”Virgin Dance” and “Space Party” back to a classic 70s funk “earth sound”, with extensive use of synthesizers (sci – fi instrument for excellence). The third song “UFO Bossa” is a bossanova tribute to the director of “Plan 9 from outer space” the legendary Ed Wood.
“Intergalactic Porno Scenes” is a post-atomic funk, where lead guitars are intertwined in a double single solo of virtuosity, as laser beams fired from ships during a space war. “Escape from Nibiru” with its sound inserts and his rhythm, catapults the listener into the classic clue moment of any self-respecting Hollywood movie: the action! The last track “Surrender”, is sung by a young Italian – Algerian singer: Yasmine Zekri.
