The acclaimed exhibition Chasing The Sun: Oasis 1993 – 1997 is to visit the iconic Manchester band’s hometown, running from October 14th – 25th at Old Granada Studios. Chasing The Sun takes us on Oasis’s supercharged journey to international megastardom, via three landmark albums – ‘Definitely Maybe’, ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ and ‘Be Here Now’ – and many legendary gigs, from London’s 100 Club to Maine Road Stadium, Manchester to their era-defining two-night stand at Knebworth House.
Big Brother Records have also today released ‘Don’t Go Away (Mustique Demo)’. The first time any of Oasis’s legendary Mustique Demos have ever been publically available, the track is now available to stream, download and as an instant grat with album pre-orders https://Oasis.lnk.to/DGA – Never before released as a single in the UK, ‘Don’t Go Away’ is taken from Oasis’s third album ‘Be Here Now’, which is being reissued as part of the ‘Chasing The Sun’ series on October 7th.
Recorded on the Caribbean island in early 1996 by Noel Gallagher and Owen Morris, the Mustique Demos are the original demos for ‘Be Here Now’. The original tapes were mislaid shortly after the completion of recording, and subsequently achieved mythical status among the band’s huge fanbase. The tapes remained effectively lost until recently unearthed in the depths of the label’s archive, and now all 14 Mustique Demos will be available in special editions of the new Chasing The Sun edition of ‘Be Here Now’. Curated by renowned photographer Lawrence Watson, Chasing The Sun 1993-1997 debuted in London in 2014, attracting over 40,000 visitors in 10 days and receiving plaudits from press and fans alike. The exhibition then toured to Tokyo, and now, with the Manchester edition, the show comes home to where the story of Oasis began.
The Manchester incarnation of the exhibition has been extended making it bigger and better than ever before, with additional rare and iconic content artefacts and photographs. It also features a life-size recreation of the front room in which the iconic artwork for ‘Definitely Maybe’ was photographed and a display featuring many of the original props.
