King Charles–’Lady Percy’ single (Universal)
That’s the problem with music anthems, you wait a while, then, bam! two maybe three in the last few weeks, that if i was a rugby player complete with tankards, ‘Lady Percy’ would be sung by a twenty odd drunken squad players at the top of their lungs. At this point, your thinking I am not painting a pretty picture. As much as I try, I haver given up now on using words such as ‘quaff’ or ‘pummel’, indeed rabble-rousing will not, I am afraid get much of an airing from this juncture. Although this review is painted in several broad strokes, scatter brained but at least an extra clue to the chorus - than simply stating ‘the glam-folk of…’.
Aware of the last EP, ‘Miss Mississippi’ and just how well it did in American Alternative iTunes chart. So i guess King Charles will be hoping for a good reaction to ‘Lady Percy’, this is a truly impressive single, hats off to King Charles for the video as well. With a good third of the press music and broadsheet both forecasting a good year for King Charles in 2012, on the evidence Of ‘Lady Percy’, they were all spot on. Expect shed loads of interest generated for the debut album ‘Love Blood’ which is due to hit the shelves on May 7th. So after Frank Turner’s ‘I Still Believe’ and The Spring Standards ‘Here We Go’, in the last few days, ‘Lady Percy’ makes the favourite list easily. 8.5/10
