HATCHAM SOCIAL NEW SINGLE – ‘LOIS LANE’ RELEASED ON FIERCE PANDA – 9th JULY 2012
LONDON LIVE DATE – 11TH JULY 2012
Hatcham Social are set to release a new single on the Fierce Panda label on the 9th of July 2012.
‘Lois Lane’, lifted from their much loved recent album ‘About Girls’, was recorded earlier this year in a self-built studio in Mid Wales with producer of the moment Jim Anderson (Cold Specks, Blood Red Shoes) and a bunch of Russian microphones. Available to download, the new single is fast becoming a big fan favourite with its breezy Pulp-meets-Buddy Holly chorus and country Motown backbeat.

Singer Toby Kidd describes the song’s inspiration thusly: ‘It’s a sweet tale of two girls, one Muslim and one Catholic-schooled, meeting in a chat room with comic book pseudonyms to escape the shackles of their backgrounds, and then falling in love. A modern day Juliet and Juliet living in a South London. It’s about love and lust, but also friendship in the way that two minds find each other, like the initial melding and mischievous energy of Verlaine and Rimbaud’.
To celebrate the release, the Hatcham Social line up of Toby Kidd (vocals, guitar), Finn Kidd (drums, vocals), David Claxton (guitar) and Riley Difford (bass) will be taking over the Dalston Social on the 11th of July for a night of dancing and drinking free ‘Lois Lane’ cocktails with its top secret recipe of herbs and spices.
The London quartet have recently completed successful US and UK tours over the last few months and will announce new dates in the very near future.
