“A Wave from the Sidelines is a retro-inspired album from The Search, a one-man project consisting of Razmig Tekeyan.
This album is my love letter to the sounds of the 80’s. I think the goal was for people to listen to it in their car at night. I decided early on to record the songs without any “real” instruments. No guitars! I’ve always wanted to do this type of album with big drums, over-the-top tom fills, Juno synthesizers, and too much of everything.
The songs were written on an acoustic guitar and it was a challenge to transform them into big-sounding tunes reminiscent of the 80’s. Turning introspective slow songs into more uplifting music with some danceable beats was great fun.
This album is my take on the synthwave genre. I hope people will enjoy listening to it as much as I loved making it.”
