In the midst of their tour supporting The Pretenders, New Jersey’s Lowlight are finally releasing their highly anticipated Born to Run EP, living up to their ode to the ultimate Jersey icon. The larger-than-life influences, classic homages, and down-to-earth lyricism featured on the EP make it clear why Chrissie Hynde handpicked the band herself to open for The Pretenders (see dates below). Born to Run is now available on all DSPs.
Lowlight is also debuting the visuals for “Can’t Stop Now” via Popdust — the DIY band, taking full creative control, recruited student volunteers from Strauss Performing Arts in Edison, New Jersey for a unique choreographed routine, resulting in something fun, beautiful, quirky, and engaging.
Listeners may find comparisons to Sharon Van Etten, The National, and Timber Timbre, all of which include a mix of rock, americana, and synth-pop that focuses on songcraft. Born to Run, the follow up to their debut Where Do We Go From Here, is a clear leap forward in the maturity and depth for the band. Consisting of four approachable, though somewhat dark songs, ‘Born To Run Boasts an epic instrumental studio creation that winds and bends as it progresses.
