Sleepwalkers – Love Lost EP

Love Lose is the debut EP from Oxfordshire based hardcore/metal five piece Sleepwalkers. Five tracks of parkway drive influenced guitar riffs accompanied by emphatic drumming and a Winston McCall styled vocal line.
Not to have a dig at Sleepwalkers in anyway shape or form, this EP is excellently written and produced but suffers somewhat in the originality department. This is in no way any fault of theirs but due to the hundreds of underground bands currently playing a similar style of metal.

Love Lost contains five tracks that are as heavy as a sledgehammer but due to what is currently getting repeated several times on the local circuit misses the mark slightly. Songs such as The Blessed show great promise but consists of breakdowns and a brutal guitar line but I can only imagine several scene kids, dressed like arseholes “kicking out shapes” to it, which puts a dampener on it for me personally.
Sleepwalkers are a tight and promising band but are dragged down slightly due to the mass production of bands in this genre that don’t cut the mustard like the guys in Sleepwalkers do. Hopefully in the next year or so the bad bands will sink and the cream of the crop which includes the guys in Sleepwalkers will float to the top of the British metal scene. 8/10
