Growing up in a time when communication and gratification were much slower and more real than in our current connected world, Pavan exists to encourage people to look up for a moment, to take in the planet and the people around them. To stick around for the whole song, through detailed production and to return to it, through melody.
‘Greenhouse Gases’ is the debut EP from London-based duo, Joe Robbins and Will Lowes, which is set for release on Brixton’s Dream Diary Records on June 25th. Their songs are set against a machine-generated backdrop, aiming for beauty in contrast: Robbins’ quivering, eccentric vocals backed by Lowes’ lab-coat soundscape.
Both work part-time jobs as gardeners and florists where they gain regular insight into the natural world. The natural world has become the visual backdrop for this EP, creating context for the sonic world they uniquely create. They hope for you to visualise this as you listen.
Live, Pavan plays electronic music without laptops, believing more in the limitations of a sampler and the challenges of manipulating synthesisers live. Also you can’t check your email on an MPC
