Iceage have shared a new video for album stand-out track, ‘Under The Sun’, taken from their critically acclaimed new album Beyondless. The video was filmed in Tokyo during Iceage’s Opening Nights residencies, an inter-continental exhibition that saw the band collaborating with their favorite visual artists (also staged in NYC and LA).
The ‘Under The Sun‘ video features the vibrant, eye-catching floral designs of renowned flower sculptor, Azuma Makoto, as part of his installation series titled Crazy Garden x Iceage, centred around and made especially for the band. The darkly beautiful and chaotic live performance is an unexpected, yet wholly fitting, foil to the delicate blooms. ‘Under The Sun’ follows previously released videos for singles ‘The Day The Music Dies‘, ‘Catch It‘, ‘Take It All‘, and the “wolf-howl goth-punk abandon” (Rolling Stone) of ‘Pain Killer‘ feat. Sky Ferreira. Meanwhile, recent single ‘Hurrah’ has been enjoying regular plays at BBC 6 Music from Lauren Laverne, Mark Riley and 6 Music Recommends.
Iceage have also announced a special performance at London’s Hackney Arts Centre on December 7th, with Helm and Astrid Sonne opening, and set design by Christian Friedlander, following on from a triumphant sold-out performance at Scala in May. Tickets are available HERE. This will be preceded by an appearance at End Of The Road festival, and September headline UK shows in Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester and Brighton. The full list of tour dates can be found below.
Beyondless came out in May on Matador Records to universal acclaim, with Noisey calling Iceage “the greatest rock ‘n roll band in the world.” The album was produced by Nis Bysted with the band – Elias Bender Rønnenfelt (vocals, lyrics), Jakob Tvilling Pless (bass), Dan Kjær Nielsen (drums), and Johan Wieth (guitar) – and recorded all-analog by Mattias Glavå at Kungsten Studios in Göteborg, Sweden and mixed by Randall Dunn. Beyondless was played entirely by Iceage with additional performances by Nils Gröndhal (violin), horns by Kasper Tranberg (trumpet), Lars Greve (saxophones) and Morten Jessen (trombone).
