Today, Methyl Ethel share ‘Scream Whole’, the first new music from the Perth act since their second record, Everything Is Forgotten, was released in March 2017.
Premiered yesterday on Australian radio station triple j’s Drive with Veronica & Lewis show, ‘Scream Whole’ is a nimble art-rock cut, which Jake Webb describes as, “That cold sweat. That swollen throat. That sick feeling bubbling up from your guts. When midday movies dredge suppressed memories that scream for closure. What to do?”
The accompanying surrealist video was conceived by Methyl Ethel figurehead Jake Webb and directed by Tay Kaka. Premiered via Consequence Of Sound, it can be viewed HERE or via the player below.

To celebrate the release of ‘Scream Whole’ Methyl Ethel have announced a handful of Australian, UK and North American tour dates. Tickets for London and North America go on sale this Friday, 28th September at 9AM. Tickets for Sydney and Melbourne shows will be available on Monday 1st October at 10AM AEST. Methyl Ethel is the musical project of Jake Webb with a five-piece live band that includes Thom Stewart, Chris Wright, Lyndon Blue and Jacob Diamond. Methyl Ethel has enjoyed phenomenal success in its native Australia in recent years. ‘Ubu’ became an ARIA Accredited Gold single after landing at #4 in triple j’s 2017 Hottest 100, and also topped the Australian Independent Singles Chart (AIR) along with fellow Everything Is Forgotten single ‘Drink Wine’. Methyl Ethel also won in the Best Album and Best Pop Act categories in 2017 WAM Awards and they have played sold-out tours throughout the country and the UK since 2016.

“Dream pop for insomniacs – shadowy, nocturnal music whose surface shimmer barely conceals the fidgety, restless soul that lurks underneath.”
Pitchfork
“[Jake Webb] is a loan glam rock astronaut floating deep into the outer reaches of his own mind.”
