OLD SEA BRIGADE DEBUTS “SEEN A GHOST”
ODE TO A FRIEND OUT JANUARY 4, 2019 VIA NETTWERK

New York, NY (October 22, 2018) – Old Sea Brigade – Nashville-based, Atlanta-born singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ben Cramer – will release his debut full-length album, Ode To A Friend, on Jan 4, 2019 via Nettwerk Records. The album title was inspired by Cramer’s sudden loss of a best friend to suicide.
Today, Old Sea Brigade shares the mesmerizing, “Seen A Ghost“, which premiered this morning at WNYC’s New Sounds. John Schaefer calls it, “… moving and anthemic, with multiple layers of soft, rustling vocals intoning the phrase ‘you look like you’ve seen a ghost’. The arrangement betrays an affinity for orchestral pop that might be surprising for a so-called indie-folk artist, but which fits the emotional tenor of the song.”
Ben was thinking a lot about balancing the past and present around certain situations when he wrote the track.
“That led me to writing a song which was a bit of a love song to nostalgia,” he says “and the comfort that it can bring when times get rough.”

Produced by Jeremy Griffith, the eleven tracks on Ode To A Friend blur and break barriers. While the songs remain rooted in Americana, indie, rock, and ambient soundscapes, they also toss and turn between analog cinematic flourishes and provocative lyricism.
Old Sea Brigade is currently on a North American tour supporting Tall Heights alongside Frances Cone. All dates can be found below.
