Fletcher Shears (The Garden) new single under his Puzzle moniker is out today, featuring Ms Boogie (FKA Jay Boogie) on vocals. Shears’ sound, style and stage is unashamedly unique in the least cliché sense of the word. His eclectic discography blends smooth rap beats with aggressive punk breaks and infectiously retro synth hooks. Having dropped a series of releases over the past few years in between The Garden’s hectic touring section, ‘g.a.t’ lands as a precursor for ‘Puzzle’s’ forthcoming album ‘X Hail’ which is due out in January, and features Ms Boogie, formerly known as Jay Boogie. Throughout her career, the Brooklyn-based rapper has consistently maintained the same message: be yourself, and her music has always underlined this, unapologetically infusing hip-hop with a proud queer perspective that sparks conversations and raises questions.In a recent open letter to fans, Boogie publicly announced her womanhood and new titles — both stage moniker and full name — reinforcing the notion that we’re all constantly transitioning.
