Out now 11th Sept is the debut EP from American Punk Pop band State Champs titled ‘Overslept’ and released via Pure Noise Records.  This up and coming band are Tyler Szalkowski,Derek Discanio, William Goodermote, and Jesse Bonn. Formed in 2010 the band will be touring America with Handguns, Forever Calling, and Allison Weiss.

If you like you’re Sum 41, Blink 182, 30 Seconds To Mars and any other pop punk bands with numbers in their names this one is probably for you. It is upbeat and defiant in an ‘I’m a teenager with hormones and anger issues’ way with frantic guitars and drums and an absolutely blistering bassline. The lyrics are quite good without being overdone and are full of emo-esk angst and youthful rebellion. Quite a lot of fun and they will probably put on a decent lively show in the flesh. 7/10
