Daniel Pearson: “Factory Floor” first taste of “Mercury State” Album
Factory Floor is the first new material to be released from Mercury State, the upcoming brilliant second album from singer-songwriter Daniel Pearson. Set for release just a year after his debut Satellites was praised by various press and radio in the UK, Europe and Australia, Factory Flooris a bold statement about the devastating effects of the recession and social inequality in society and is the opening track on the similarly-themed record. Pearson has built on the success of his debut and added a lyrical maturity to his memorably melodic song writing, and the new track marks him out as a singular talent in the indie rock landscape. The haunting video for the song (also created by Pearson) features guest appearances by David Cameron, Barack Obama, Paris Hilton, Bob Diamond and Simon Cowell intercut with footage of the London riots, the economic downturn and various quotations about social problems. Despite the serious subject matter, Factory Floor is far more than a one-dimensional political statement. Adding to the infectious and impressive songwriting abilities established by Satellites, he draws on folk and alt.country to craft a timeless song that shows the influence of REM, Elliott Smith and Bruce Springsteen on his sound.
Confirmed release dates for Mercury State are set to be announced soon.
