Catchy pop-punkers Custody have joined forces with fellow Finnish punk rockers The Phoenix Foundation to release a 7’’ split single.Custody is back with a sing-a-long track about making songs every Tuesday – treating us to those catchy choruses we’ve come to know and love. The Phoenix Foundation’s ‘Secrets’ is a brooding six minutes of emotional punk rock, blending the perfect balance of roughness and poignancy.

Centuries of combined musical experience from the punk pairing make this new track a must-listen-to for fans of 80s/90s melodic punk rock. Think Samiam, Husker Du, Leatherface, Manifesto Jukebox, Get Up Kids and HDQ.

The Phoenix FoundationThe Phoenix Foundation have carved a unique niche in the punk rock community over the past 18 years, with their distinctive ‘Finnishesque’ sound. Not to be mistaken with Buffalo-based band of the same name and age, this (criminally) lesser-known band hail from Turku.

Phoenix’s incarnation of rhythmical punk rock is charged with melancholy, with emo-laden songs make them a tricky one to neatly fit into one genre. Ricocheting from frenetic punk earworms to anthemic gems, it’s singer Jallu’s remarkable howl and pop sensibility that glues the band’s unmistakable sound.With seven full-lengths, several smaller slabs and multiple line-up changes, the band continue to push themselves creatively. With fingers in several other musical pies (1981, Kieltolaki and Last Shot At Fame to name a few), the band aren’t commonplace on the live circuit – which makes them a treasure to catch when they do.
