ondon newcomers Calva Louise release their eagerly anticipated debut album Rhinoceros, out today (1st February) via Modern Sky Records.

Having already spawned lead singles Outrageous, I Heard A Cry and Tug Of War, the trio continue to receive widespread acclaim throughout the online community (The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Dork, So Young) and across the airwaves (BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Radio X) with these early glimpses of their glistening potential.

Flourishing within London’s thriving punk scene since their formative days, the band’s (one part Venezuelan, one part Māori and another part English) tenacious live reputation has already earned them support slots alongside the likes of Albert Hammond Jr, Spring King and Anteros in addition to an extensive UK tour with label-mates The Blinders.

Discussing their full-length release, the three-piece stated: “Our debut album is called Rhinocerosin reference to a particular aspect of the work of Eugène Ionesco. In the lyrics of these ten songs we show our perception as young people, partly foreigners, who try to fit in and belong to something and somewhere in this globalized world. However, we have realised that our greatest motivation is the challenge of adventure, of penetrating into the unknown, and being authentic allows us to feel free to follow our own path, without ceasing to belong to this world, which is the reality”. Produced by Margo Broom (Fat White Family, Goat Girl) and mixed by Tom Longworth (Catholic Action, The Vryll Society)Calva Louise’s Rhinoceros is out now via Modern Sky Records and available on all digital platforms. Rhinoceros Tracklist01 – I Heard A Cry02 – I’m Gonna Do Well03 – Tug Of War04 – Outrageous05 – No Hay06 – Getting Close07 – Wondertale08 – Cruel Girl09 – Down The Stream10 – Out Of Use
