Tycho Jones Shares new single ‘Level Head’

Tycho Jones is an exciting proposition. The 20 year old musician and creative from Hackney has steadily been drip-feeding us music for the past 12 months or so. His debut EP ‘Tychonaut’ was released in May 2020, followed by his lockdown sessions ‘Hanging Around’ in September.

‘Tychonaut’ – a real mash up of a mixture of indie, alternative, punk, lo-fi and hip-hop – was met with much praise as Tycho unravelled the contents of his young mind. Born and raised in London, the culturally diverse and fast-paced city has heavily influenced his music as he forged his path into adulthood. He found his crew as he ran around with like-minded creatives who shared a love of UK indie and the inspiring London live scene. All that the city had to offer moulded their vison and offered an escape from everyday life.‘Level Head’ is the new single and is a reaction to the restraints that have been put on young people all over the city (and all over the world) who have found their social exploits curtailed in 2020. Lockdown and isolation takes its toll on the best of us but when your social network of mates and comrades is removed, it’s hard to maintain focus and indeed, sanity when your alone in your room for too long.

“Level head is a response to being stuck in my room and trying to find a sense of peace. It’s a reaction to my coping mechanisms of trying to get out of my own head to find a balance.”The DIY video, shot by and featuring Tycho’s gang of peers, captures them doing exactly what they love and miss; running amok in their city, finding the fun and using the city as a haven for creative expression. Watch HERE.Social interaction is important for all humans but for young minds still in the process of trying to make sense of the world, it’s vital. Finding an outlet for your thoughts and need for artistic stimulation has become increasingly difficult in the age of the pandemic – especially with live shows on indefinite pause – but as long as young musicians are creating like this, hope for the future remains.
