Exactly a year on from the release of Moses Boyd’s seminal album ‘Dark Matter’, the pioneering light in the exuberant young London jazz scene is pleased to share album track ‘2 Far Gone’ with an additional vocal feature from fellow South London musical trailblazer and icon of London bass culture Katy B. 

Moses will also appear on Later…with Jools Holland on Friday 26th February, 10pm on BBC Two. A collision of jazz with contemporary dancefloor dynamics ‘2 Far Gone’ as an instrumental is exceptional but with the added emotional tug of Katy B’s distinctive, effortless voice, the song comes alive.

A brilliant match made in musical heaven, Katy jumping on the track uncompromisingly adds a whole new dimension. On the feature Katy said: “I’m really honoured to link up with Moses on this remix to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Dark Matter, such a fan of Moses and the album so really excited to be part of it. The lyric ‘Too far gone’ felt like something that you’re trying to hold on to but too much has happened to be saved. The instrumental has such an energy and drive but also a darkness and drama to it so wanted to explore that feeling of an internal battle, trying to find a way to let go.” Moses also shared: “So glad that we could make this collaboration happen. Moses’ appearance on Later…with Jools Holland, airing on Friday 26th February at 10pm, was filmed at Jools’ creative home – his unique South London recording studio – where Jools and Moses jam together and discuss Moses’ musical journey, loves and influences, illustrated by classic clips the from Later… archive. Moses Boyd’s ground-breaking album ‘Dark Matter’ was released in February 2020 – right before the world went on pause. It’s impact and influence cut through the sedentary shock of what unfolded and went on to receive many, much coveted accolades. ‘Dark Matter’ was nominated for the 2020 Hyundai Mercury Music Prize and Best Jazz Act at the MOBO’s and Moses was crowned AIM’s Independent Breakthrough Artist of the Year. The album also received an incredibly strong showing in the Albums of the Year lists including The Guardian, The Observer, Loud & Quiet, NME, Clash, Crack, Uncut and TLOBF – illustrating the wide appeal of the record.
