Detritus is Sarah Neufeld’s first album since her acclaimed 2016 release The Ridge. The Juno Award winning violinist, composer, and long-time member of Arcade Fire and Bell Orchestre has had no shortage of buzz for this upcoming release, receiving shoutouts Pitchfork, Stereogum, NME, Exclaim, and Under the Radar, among many others. Zoon fans rejoice! Zoon has released a surprise new video for ‘Was & Always Will Be’ off his celebrated 2020 release Bleached Wavves. While this was one of the last tracks to be added to the album, it carries the same depth and intentionality heard throughout Bleached Wavves. Zoon collaborated with director John Smith to create a psychedelic new music video featuring technicolour drone footage over sweeping landscapes.
Against all odds (thanks, Covid!), Zoon has had a great year. Bleached Wavves spent 7 weeks on Canada’s Earshot Charts, and was ranked the #4 album on the Earshot National Top 200 Albums of 2020, the only debut album included in the top 10. Zoon was also spotted on multiple “Best of 2020” lists, namely from Apple Music, Exclaim, and CBC Music, with his track ‘Brokenhead’ being named best track of 2020 by Indie Machine. Zoon has been interviewed on q with Tom Power, performed in Indie88’s Live from Home series, and has booked an upcoming performance at Wavelength Winter Festival.
