Matte/Glossy – Green
Green is a song about the transformative power of love, for better or for worse. The catchiest song on the album revolves around personal relationships and their impact on our lives; a recurring theme in the Matte/Glossy universe.
The video that accompanies the third single – following up Mi Palacio and Millennial Burnout – from Violeta’s debut full-length, La soledad es mi palacio, was made with choreographer Ágnes Bakucz Canário and represents a rupture. A growth from a state of innocence and savagery to a civilized and polished version of ourselves, shaped by experiences and relationships.

Mi Palacio and Millennial Burnout and Green are previews of what will be Matte/Glossy’s first LP: La Soledad es mi Palacio (Solitude is my Palace). After her time as a singer in several punk bands and the release of an EP as Matte/Glossy, Violeta consolidates her art-pop in an album filled with raw vocals, complex harmonies and spare beats. Pop songs with an alien air and unpredictable twists in which all the protagonism is taken by the voice,
The album includes lyrics in Spanish and English in compositions that seek the contradiction between cheerful melodies and dark harmonies. Vocal contortions and self-referential lyrics draw dreamlike and pleasant soundscapes that suddenly transform into rapturous dissonance. Following her DIY spirit, the album has been recorded and produced by Violeta in her bedroom, this time with professional technical help in the mixing by the hand of Diego Escriche (ES) and Jakob Herber (AT).
In 2018 she released a cassette with the Viennese label Yakamoz and has played in Spain, Austria, Czech Republic and Italy. Her music is marked by the lyrical intensity of female singers and songwriters like Aldous Harding, Maria Arnal or Soap & Skin.
