Inspired by the ever-changing seasons of life, 17-year-old songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Lucy Lowis crafts a sound that floats into the existential clouds of self-reflection and hope.
Today, she releases the latest installment for the beloved Kill Rock Stars 30th anniversary collection: “Say Yes” / “No Name #1” Elliott Smith cover single package. “No Name #1” originally appeared on Roman Candle. “Say Yes” originally appeared as the 12th and final track of Elliott Smith’s 1997 album, Either/Or.
The label shares, “Elliott Smith’s musical legacy is an enduring inspiration and influence to many people, including Lucy Lowis. Elliott’s timeless songs, combined with his history with the seminal Kill Rock Stars label, makes him a daunting artist to pay tribute to. However, singer/songwriter Lucy Lowis manages to honor the original music while putting their own creative spin and stylings on Elliott’s songs “Say Yes” and “No Name # 1.” We hope you enjoy the new renditions.”
Lucy Lowis paints vibrant sonic images through diverse instrumentation, driven primarily by ukulele, guitar, and piano. Her debut album, Seventh Cycle Soul, is a collection of personal reflections and stories that trace through the nuances of daily life. Lucy is busy in the studio recording new songs for her second album, planned for 2022 release.
