SL has today dropped new single ‘Play Time’, which is available now alongside a brand new video.

At just twenty years old, the Peckham-born, Croydon-raised rapper represents a new class borne out of the cross-pollination of genres. This has already resulted in 7 charting singles, over 300 million global streams, and viral hit ‘Gentleman’ surpassing 43 million views: all done on SL’s distinct terms. This summer also SL made a long-awaited return to the live arena with a scene-stealing performance at Wireless festival, with more touring, collaborations and a new long-form project from SL expected in early 2022.

The last couple of years have seen SL grow as an artist, and a young man. He has released three EP projects thus far – ‘Different Dude’, ‘Selhurst SE25’, ‘Everything Good Is Bad’ – whilst also setting up a foundation in response to the Black Lives Matter movement, empowering young people from ethnicities across the UK. SL first went viral whilst himself still at school, when early tracks like ‘Tropical’ blew up online (all done in secret, so he could complete his GCSEs). The ambition, though, was apparent from the start. Having been raised on golden-age kingmakers like Wu-Tang Clan, DMX, and Jay Z, it’s SL’s multi-faceted approach – where the production, visuals and compelling storytelling all go hand-in-hand – that have seen his formative work carve out a singular lane in contemporary music.

With early co-signs spanning JME, Stormzy and Drake to Virgil Abloh and collaborators like Kenny Beats and Pa Salieu, SL has retained his elusive profile whilst refusing to be pinned down. It’s ‘Play Time’ from the still-unmistakable SL, as he embarks on a brand new chapter.
